Consider Making It A Tradition To Be Thankful

We are nearing the bottom of our bag of dog food. Somewhere in those last kibbles, my daughter found this smaller bag of dog treats. Each piece looks like it was made out of playdoh. It amused us to look at how creative these things were. I can just imagine someone playing with playdoh with their child; all of a sudden getting this idea to make dog treats that looked like fresh veggies like this. Bayley loved them. He ate two tonight and we are saving the rest for later.
And with this post-I begin to catch up on some blogging!

Six months ago, you may recall that I posted about my first mammography experience. Today I had a follow up so that they could get another view of something they wanted to keep an eye on. Everything went well, though something could be said about the technician's bedside manner.

Anyhow, so at this point, everything looks the same as it did six months ago. I go in another six months for another check so that they can have one more look before putting me on a yearly schedule. I do like this office as everyone else (besides this one technician ) worked hard to make you feel comfortable and important without a lot of needless conversation about what I was planning on doing for Thanksgiving while she tightens the grips. Yeah, I know, she was probably just trying to make me feel more at ease-but what I wanted her to do was to just get what she needed so I could go back into my little dressing room and soon go home again.

A November snow in my part of North Carolina is very rare. The last time I remember it snowing in November was in the year 2000. I had just arrived home from having a transfusion a few days beforehand and was still pretty weak from the low iron situation.
Anyway-this was a nice surprise for us Friday Morning. So glad that I got to see it before it all melted away!
Since this, we have been experiencing some good ole fashion cold winter temperatures. I love it! I did finally cut my heat on last week as temperatures inside my house neared 50 degrees.
We've had several nights in the twenties and thirties and highs struggling to get out of the forties into the fifties.

Three Churches-One Space
This column is about the church I grew up going to. My mother still attends there.

As if I needed another place online to visit, I learned about another virtual world connected to stuffed animals like the Webkinz I have talked about in the past....
Apparently in the past year, Build A Bear created their own site. (which is fun in it's own way)You can join for free and do many of the activities without having to buy anything, but you do not fully unlock the site (full access) until you register a pet you have bought.
So..
During the week my husband had off (last week), I took a trip to Build a Bear. I told them it was my birthday (it was a few days afterwards-but close enough since we celebrate birthday weeks and months here in our house)...and picked out my "Curly Bear". I stuffed her with the assistance of the saleslady and jumpstarted the little heart they had me place inside. (is the visual image of this cracking you up yet?)...I named her Betsy....because she was bought on election night and I was trying to think of a good patriotic name and Betsy Ross kind of seemed like a good reference... (yeah rambling here)
I bought her a nice outfit that had sparkles on it, so every time I hug her I end up sparkly-which really isnt a bad way to go through life if you ask me (which you didnt-that suggestion was a freebee there) She was placed in a box with airholes to get her home nice and safe...
So, as I watched the election returns, I entered her codes and played in Bearville a while . Once you have a pet, it becomes virtual and rides around in a back pack on your character's back. (at least until you go into your condo-then the bear runs free and is kind of wild and free!)
Oh and right now, if you buy a box of Teddy Grahams, you can get a $5 off coupon to use on any purchase $10 or more at Build A Bear. I guess after buying the cookies, I'll save $2 upon my return in actuality...but still....fun stuff...
And this is what is in my house this week.

Today is our house's birthday-it is 17 years old.

Here is a photo of my husband and daughter Hannah (when she was 15 months old) sitting on what would become our front steps.

For the past week or so, I have been driving into my driveway, past this tree. I was amazed time and time again at just how beautiful God paints the leaves in the fall as we transition from summer to winter.

As I passed by the tree, I had some words floating through my mind that were from a well loved book my mother read to me as a child called, We were tired of living in a house.
Those words essentially said,
And they packed their bags with leaves of orange and red and gold...
The book, written with a sing song poetic feel still brings back warm memories...

When I was three years old, I received this Raggedy Ann doll for my birthday from a cousin. This is her today, thirty-nine years later, a bit worn, a bit faded, but a lot loved.

Birthday Candles for a Muddy 42nd birthday!
Is it ironic that they were lit with funeral home matches?

LOL

My family and I went out to eat and enjoyed the day together.
My husband is off this next week, and so the celebration continues with his being home with us.
::sings::
Happy Birthday to Muuuuudddddyyyyyyyy!
