I would love to use the card for a mocha Frappucino light. Mmmmm.

The Bible verse I'm thinking about today came from the sermon at church, which was about our hearts. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." I'm thankful for that cleansing--it's like a spiritual shower.

I hope I quoted that verse right!

You're so good, I wanted to do a giveaway this time but I don't know where my last week has gone.. and here the carnival is.. well, we'll see if i can throw something together :-)

The Lord has recently spoken to me from Ephesians 5:1, about being a child of the King and our earthly children. It says to imitate God as a dearly loved Child - which got me thinking about my own children, who are dearly loved.. and how they do just naturally want to follow my example because of that love.

Then it struck me, as I love the Lord and imitate Him, they will imitate me.. learning of Him and someday following Him as well. So I don't have to worry and stress about "Am I teaching them enough? Is it right? Am I going about this all wrong?"

Anyhow... I love starbucks! :-D

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139: 23-24 (KJV)

May we always remember to ask God to search our hearts to help us rid ourselves of unrighteous behavior.

I hope I win this gift card as I like to tuck them into my husband's hands to use them as a treat during his work week since there is a Starbucks just down the road form his jobsite.

Yeah, it was the word 'patience' that was speaking to me this week.

I'd love to win! I think the Bible verse that has most affected me over the last couple of years (since my husband and I started our business) is Hebrews 11:6 - "6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." I have clung to that verse. Just believing that He is whos is says He is.

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Heb. 4:16
it's also my life verse. cuz i have lot's of times of need. :)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:44 AM, April 21, 2008

Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. And we all, who contemplate the Lord’s glory with unveiled faces, are being transformed into His image with every increasing glory which comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. –2 Cor 3:17-18

That was the verse for the Bible study that I am working on with a group of ladies online. The question was about how we were so reluctant to embrace the freedom given to us by the Spirit.

I don’t embrace the freedom because I keep picking up the chains. How can I put my arms around Jesus and feel this freedom if I am carrying an armload of junk? I keep trying to fix the junk when this freedom has all new things waiting for me when I lay down the junk.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 6:12 AM, April 21, 2008

Don't do much bible, nor do I do much church these days, as long as I stay within the guidelines of the ten commandments, I know I'll be ok in the after life. Oh, I do do Starbucks though!

The verses on my heart are from my pastor's sermon yesterday morning - he used Luke 15 in his message about Faith-Sharing (where Jesus uses three parables, about the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost/prodigal son to illustrate how greatly heaven rejoices when a lost member of the family of God is reunited).

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."

We have three little ones, and it's been a reminder that I am to daily train my children in the ways of God: all day. Everything should revolve around Him... what other way is there to show our children that our Heavenly Father is in everything!

Exodus 20:8-11 "remember the sabbath day and keep it holy . . ." has been the subject of much study at my house lately.

One of the conclusions is that we won't be at starbucks on the Lord's day anymore, but there are 6y other days in which I can spend a $10 gift card. :-)

#2, Muddy, #2 on the bloggy giveaway list??? How do you do this?? :)

Anywho; because I'm trying to be a good steward and tweak my budget and keep my food costs down - - the verse I have written on top of my budgeting pad, is:

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because GOD has said 'Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you' ". Hebrews 13:5

Love Starbucks (great gift choice); and this was a FANTASTIC comment idea!

I would have to say that the verse in Acts where Paul commands the jailer "Believe in God and you will be saved" has been special to me lately. I was explaining that story in Sunday School and the kids said "you mean, it's a promise? If you believe, you will be saved?" It was wonderful seeing them finally get it!

Mark 6:46 After leaving them, he went up to a mountainside to pray.

Because if Jesus, the Son of God needs to pray, how much more do I, a rotten sinner in need of his grace and guidance need to pray?!

"We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done." Psalm 78:4

This is a verse I read recently during my quiet time with the Lord, and it is a great reminder to continually be teaching my children about God, and all of the wonders He has done!

This is really hard. I have given each of my 4 children a verse that I pray over them and I love those.
Jeremiah 29:11
Psalm 127:3
James 1:17
Zephaniah 3:17
But if I really am honest the verse that truely spoke to me deep down most recently is

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

The truths I have learned from this..
all things = good and bad

God works = it is ALL Gods plan! Already planned so you're not their by some accident and God will fix it he already new you would be in that situation at that exact time!

for the good = Eternal, Holy, Godly Perspective. NOT the worldly perspective of good but what glorifies God!

Conditions:
The promise is ONLY good to those who love God and are called to HIS purpose!

Okay enough just had to share that! Thanks for a great opportunity to share this and enter into a giveaway!

Psalm 1
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers, for his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither, whatever he does prospers.

What a different and thoughtful give away question -- my bible verse is here:

If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, "move from here to there," and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20)

We have been out of work since January 7th. My husband returned to work this morning. I had to be steadfast for the both of us regarding faith he'd find a job beacause we are in a recession and it was very scary out there.

I learned with faith nothing is impossible.

The one that I have been looking at lately becuase we are wanting to adopt more children, and that I just had to put on my blog, is

But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day! Habakkuk 2:3 (NLT)

2 Corinthian 9:8 - "AND GOD IS ABLE TO MAKE GRACE ABOUND IN YOU, THAT ALWAYS HAVING ALL SUFFICIENCY IN EVERYTHING, YOU MAY HAVE AN ABUNDANCE FOR EVERY GOOD DEED."

Proverbs 3:5-6 sums it all up, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

“Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not
give up” (Galatians 6:9).

Reminds me to keep persevering and walking worthy of my calling.

Thanks.

Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I would love some Starbucks! Or even to go to Starbucks and get some for my friend and I. He always buys me coffee and I'd love to return the favor.

The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

1 Samuel 2:7

Seems to be the most fitting the latest.

Things have been a bit stressful around here as Delaware is laying of over a 1000 teachers. I was sweating a bit and then this verse came to mind Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Now can I please have a Starbucks so I can have a latte as I wait for His plan!

I have to say that the verse that plays over and over in my head is:
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true,
there is life and joy.
-Proverbs 13:12

We waited so long to become parents and then there was a bit of a delay getting our referral. But today as I look at my beautiful little girl I still cherish this verse.

Psalm 40:1-2
I waited patiently for the Lord, He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

"Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and and slow to become angry. For man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."
(James I, I believe.)

I've been working on hiding verses about anger in my heart.

What a great idea... coffee and Bible. Can't get much better than that! I am always convicted with James 4:17 - To know what is right and not do it is sin.

I'd use the card on my favorite....grande nonfat iced caramel macchiato (or however it is spelled!!!)

And the verse that has touched me most recently is John 17:9"My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you." It was from the sermon on Sunday at church, and it really hit me that Jesus prayed for me during his last days and hours on earth, and that he spells it right out in there that I belong to God. Without question. I'm His for always.

I was reading in Judges today about Gideon when he continued to ask God to show him miracles so that Gideon would believe that God would help him win the battle.
It saddened me to think about how many times I question God's goodness and also made me want to do better at trusting in HIM. He always does what He says He will do!!!
